About

Marissa has been shooting professionally for over a decade. She first picked up a camera with her dedicated “eye” in high school in the 90s as a sports reporter for a small town Ohio rural newspaper. Years later working as an Art Director for how-to books, she was told to pick up a camera and start again — and this time decided to focus on families and high school grads embarking on their grand adventure. Weddings and events followed, and a passion for the small or big businessperson wanting to look their best weaved their way in. Recently, real estate has become every day life; so why not shoot that, too?

Her roots began in Ohio, she spent her collegiate years in Chicago and lived a young professional life in Nashville, Tennessee. When her daughter was born, she made her way back to Ohio for 18 years. And then in 2020, when the world turned upside down — Zionsville, Indiana became home. She loves being a Hoosier and has been so grateful for the new clients she’s begun to serve in the Indy area.

Marissa counts famous artist/painter/(and sometimes photographer) Georgia O’Keeffe as one of her artist inspirations. I like to approach photography much like Georgia spoke about her drawings and paintings. O’Keeffe sought to communicate the essence of her surroundings: “It is only by selection, by elimination, by emphasis,” she said in 1922, “that we get at the real meaning of things.” I prefer to be real and most importantly, classic — in my my artistic approach to my photographs. I think you can see that for yourself in the work presented here.
